* Job Duties:
** The Department of Psychology in the College of Letters & Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the area of clinical or counseling psychology beginning August 2026. This is a full-time position with responsibilities for teaching undergraduate courses, and potentially graduate courses, depending on specialization; research; and service to the university and community. Research expertise should include any specialization within the fields of clinical or counseling psychology.
** Job Details:
** The successful candidate will be able to develop and teach clinically-oriented undergraduate courses (e.g., psychopathology, interviewing skills), an introductory course in psychology or general education, and courses within their specialization. In addition, the candidate will be expected to pursue an active research agenda that engages undergraduate students, results in publications, and contributes to advancing the department, the university, the profession, and society.
The candidate will be expected to participate in service activities and embrace the principles of diversity and inclusion as a member of the university community. We have a number of graduate assistants available to support instruction and research efforts, a supportive university Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, and start-up funding is negotiable. Early career course load reduction to support research and other academic endeavors is potentially available.
** Responsibilities:
** Full-time teaching responsibilities (4 courses per semester) may include undergraduate courses in psychopathology, interviewing and psychotherapy techniques, and courses in the faculty member’s area of specialization, as well as an introductory course in psychology or general education. Research expectations include maintaining an active program of research in any area of clinical or counseling psychology with opportunities for undergraduate involvement. In addition, faculty members serve as advisors/mentors to students and are encouraged to engage students in undergraduate research or other scholarly and creative activities.
Service responsibilities include committee service at the departmental, college, and university levels as well as participation in community and professional organizations as relevant to the candidate’s expertise and interest.##

** Well-qualified candidates can expect a minimum starting salary of $60,000 commensurate with the candidate's education, related experience, and qualifications.

*** Ph.D., Psy.
D., or ABD in clinical or counseling psychology. Candidates who are ABD must have their degree completed by the contract start date in August 2026; if not, they will be hired on a one-year contract with the understanding that their degree will be completed before January 2027 in advance of their first scheduled review.
