. The base pay range for this position is $17.00/hr – $20.50/hr this role will remain open until filled.

Our pharmacy technician positions have evolved from a transaction‑based environment to one that focuses on patient care. As a Walgreens Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will be at the front line, interacting with customers and building strong patient relationships. Walgreens invests in an “earn while you learn” Pharmacy Technician Training Program, recognized by ASHP and the Department of Labor, to guide you toward becoming a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certified pharmacy technician.

• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy and in the performance of other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assist with and coach other pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers.
• Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
• Engage customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services; resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
• Model and share customer service best practices with all team members.
• Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.
• Under the supervision of the pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
• Review and comply with the Walgreens Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
• Perform duties assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, or Store Manager, including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medicine, and checking for interactions.
• Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies regarding pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
• Adhere to the Walgreens policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
• Register all related sales on the assigned cash register and handle cash as required; assist customers to the OTC aisle when possible.
• Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention, including those to physicians.
• Process manual claims for third‑party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner.
• Assist and support the Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals.
• Maintain knowledge of Company asset protection techniques, file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, and order errors involving prescription drugs.
• Assist the pharmacist in administering clinical services, including collecting and labeling blood/urine samples, and coordinate clinical services with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
• Assist the Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining relationships with the local medical community.
• Assist with interior and exterior maintenance of the Pharmacy Department, ensuring it is stocked, clean, neat, and orderly.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program or state‑required certification/registration; obtain PTCB certification as a condition for promotion to senior technician.
• Attend training requested by the Manager and acquire continuing education credits to maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy.

• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

• Preference for six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Preference for prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Preference for strong math skills to accurately fill prescriptions.
• Preference for good computer skills.
• Preference for knowledge of store inventory control.
• Preference for PTCB certification.

The actual compensation that you will be offered will depend on a variety of factors including geography, skills, experience, and other relevant factors. Salary Range: $17 - $20.5 per hour.
