Teacher Pay Scale: £153.85 - £252.71 per day (depending on experience)
Are you a passionate Maths Teacher looking to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people? We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Maths Teacher to join a supportive Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in North Tyneside on a full‑time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work with students who require additional support to re‑engage with education and achieve their potential.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging Maths lessons to KS3 and KS4 pupils, adapting learning to meet individual needs while creating a safe, structured and positive learning environment. Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships are essential for success in this role. PRUs support pupils with a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, so a calm, patient and consistent approach is vital.
The Role- Deliver high-quality Maths lessons across KS3 and KS4.
- Plan, prepare and assess engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
- Build positive, professional relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and progress.
- Manage challenging behaviour using restorative and de‑escalation strategies.
- Work collaboratively with support staff, senior leaders and external professionals.
- Monitor and report on pupil progress and wellbeing.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience teaching Maths at secondary level.
- Previous experience working within a PRU, Alternative Provision, SEMH or SEND setting is desirable.
- Excellent behaviour management and classroom management skills.
- Resilient, adaptable and committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and inclusive teaching practices.
- Full-time position.
