The Bishop of Newcastle wishes to appoint a half-time priest to be Vicar of Cullercoats St George.
Cullercoats is a popular residential area between the towns of North Shields and Whitley Bay. St George’s church building dominates the coastal skyline and is a key landmark along with Tynemouth Priory and the Whitley Bay Lighthouse. There is a mixed population of very settled residents alongside increasing numbers moving to the coast because of the setting, good transport links to the city centre and the good standard of living it offers.
There is also a seasonal element of visitors to the beaches and coastal attractions in the summer. St George’s building is hugely impressive and the worship is shaped by the space. Music is a particular strength with great opportunities for outreach.

- Who is able to develop ways of bringing in new members into the congregation and to develop links with young people and families in the area;
- Who is able to generate and take forward ideas collaboratively, especially in working with local tourist initiatives, local schools and the wider Deanery.
