Main duties of the job
The Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital is a busy district general hospital close to the Kent coast and surrounded by countryside. The labour ward has 8 delivery rooms and a dedicated obstetric emergency theatre. This is a substantive 10PA Consultant post in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, a replacement post that forms part of an expansion in consultant numbers to improve services for women and babies.
The post-holder must demonstrate competence in core Obstetrics and Gynaecology to fulfil the dual role of a general obstetrician and gynaecologist, and will be expected to participate in intrapartum Obstetrics to ensure the provision of the required hours of consultant presence as mandated by the RCOG.

Qualifications and training- Essential: Full GMC Registration; GMC Specialist Registration in obstetrics and gynaecology or will obtain within 6 months of interview.
- Desirable: Research;
Strong teacher with interest in medical education.
- Essential: Experience of audit; understanding of clinical incident reporting & risk management; evidence of participation in annual appraisal.
- Desirable: Experience of service improvement; previous involvement in education & training; interest in research & development.
- MRCOG.
- Proven track of pelvic side wall dissection and high risk caesarean sections.
- ATSM advanced labour ward practice or equivalent.
- Colposcopy accreditation or will achieve within 6 months.
- ATSM in benign gynaecology or gynaeoncology (Desirable).
