Quality Control Inspector
Whitstable, Kent
Salary: £DOE + company benefits, pension, training & development, 25 days holiday
Our client, a well-established engineering and manufacturing business, is seeking a Quality Control Inspector to support its quality assurance function. This is a key role focused on inspecting incoming materials and components to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and internal quality standards.
You will play an important part in maintaining product integrity, identifying non-conformances, and ensuring full traceability of inspection activities while collaborating with internal teams and suppliers.
Responsibilities
• Inspect incoming materials against drawings, specifications, and standards
• Carry out dimensional, visual, and functional inspections
• Use callipers, micrometres, gauges, and test equipment accurately
• Interpret technical drawings and material requirements
• Record inspection results clearly in line with procedures
• Maintain organised documentation for audit and traceability
• Identify non-conformances and raise Supplier NCRs
• Capture supporting evidence including photos, measurements, and test data
• Liaise with suppliers, procurement, and engineering to resolve issues
• Support internal quality systems and continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure correct handling, storage, and identification of materials
• Conduct first-stage inspection of customer returns
Candidate requirements
• Previous experience in a quality inspection role within manufacturing or engineering
• Experience inspecting mechanical or securement-type components
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Familiarity with inspection tools and quality processes (ISO 9001 desirable)
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Good communication and IT skills, including WMS systems
• Self-motivated, organised, and a strong team player
