About the Role

The Before School Program Coordinator oversees the Before School Expanded Learning program at an elementary (TK-8) site, providing students with the knowledge, skills, and resources for academic and personal success. Programming occurs inside or outside the classroom during before‑school hours (6:30‑8:00 am) and includes tutoring, enrichment, life skills, recreation, and other success‑facilitating activities. The Coordinator plans, implements, and supervises the program, works closely with school administration, faculty, parents, and students, and trains and evaluates Youth Leaders.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversee day‑to‑day programming at designated LEARN partner schools.
  • Develop and foster positive relationships with school staff, parents, and students.
  • Plan and coordinate programming with input from school administration, ASB students, teachers, parents, counselors, and Title I Coordinators via a program Advisory Board.
  • Develop a staffing plan to implement programming.
  • Supervise Youth Leaders, including performance monitoring, evaluation, hiring recommendations, and direct input to disciplinary decisions.
  • Monitor expenses to ensure program costs remain within budget.
  • Meet regularly with teachers, principals, and instructional staff to align before‑school activities with the instructional curriculum.
  • Ensure accurate recording and reporting of student attendance to meet program goals and grant guidelines.
  • Recruit and retain students for programming through collaboration with school staff, parents, and students.
  • Ensure Youth Leaders record time and submit required paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Maintain individual and group documentation of program participation and academic progress (electronic and hard copy).
  • Distribute and collect evaluation instruments.
  • Assist with periodic reporting tasks.
  • Attend monthly Coordinator professional development, school all‑staff meetings, and monthly meetings with the principal.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education & Experience: A Bachelor’s Degree, or four years of experience working with youth in an educational setting. A combination of education and experience can fulfill the four‑year requirement. The ability to pass a district examination for instructional assistants is required; a Bachelor’s degree, supervisory experience, and program‑planning experience are highly desired.

Must‑Have Skills & Abilities: Interest in working with at‑risk youth to help them achieve their potential; ability to understand children’s needs and differences; balance emotional support with discipline; excellent organization, attention to detail, and sound judgment; strong interpersonal and communication skills; team player; punctual, dependable, and responsive to supervision.

Language & Computer Skills: Strong writing skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and web‑based communication tools;
Spanish language ability desired.

Physical Requirements & Condition of Employment

This is a part‑time, casual, non‑benefited, non‑exempt position with an hourly wage of $25.00. Candidates must be available to work five days per week, Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 1:00 am, up to 30 hours per week; work hours may be flexible. Specific times and schedules vary based on organizational needs.

Pay Range

25 USD per hour.
