Industrial Waste Inspector I/II – Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts
Location: Various District locations – applicants must specify preferred assignment in supplemental questions.
Essential Functions: Inspect and investigate industrial facilities for compliance with wastewater discharge regulations, conduct sampling and chemical testing, issue citations, respond to emergencies, recommend solutions, prepare legal documentation, and assist with permit applications.
Qualifications- Valid California Class C driver’s license.
- For Industrial Waste Inspector I: two years experience as a laboratory technician or sub‑professional engineering class and 12 semester units in biology, chemistry or related field.
- For Industrial Waste Inspector II: one year experience as Industrial Waste Inspector I or two years experience conducting industrial wastewater treatment inspection with 12 semester units in biology, chemistry or related field.
- Additional experience in chemistry, environmental science, or water technology accepted.
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, environmental science, water technology or related field.
- Environmental Compliance Inspector certification.
Initial review of applications and supplemental questionnaires. Qualified candidates invited to a written examination (50% weight) followed by an interview (50% weight). Candidates must score qualifying in each component.
