Registered Nurse; RN Mentor, Per diem

Position

Registered Nurse (RN) Mentor, Per diem, 8am - 4:30pm at PIH Health.

The RN Mentor is a seasoned registered nurse who imparts clinical wisdom, professional judgment, and emotional support to nurses new to practice. Through both individual and group mentoring, the RN Mentor strengthens clinical reasoning, confidence, and professional identity formation during the transition-to-practice period.

This role provides experienced nurses with an opportunity to remain active contributors to the profession by supporting organizational priorities related to safety, quality, engagement, and nurse retention.

• Demonstrated excellence in communication, critical thinking, and professional role modeling
• Ability to provide both group and one-on-one mentorship effectively.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to coordinate activities for multiple mentees simultaneously.
• Skill in documenting and tracking mentoring sessions and outcomes.
• Proficiency in coaching, feedback, and reflective listening.
• Ability to identify mentee challenges and consult collaboratively with leaders and educators for resolution.
• Commitment to continuous learning, professional integrity, and mentorship excellence.

• Active, unencumbered California RN license
• Associate degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum ten (10) years of clinical nursing experience
• Must obtain LA City Fire Card within 6 months of employment (PHGSH Only)

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing (BSN/MSN)
• Previous experience as a preceptor, mentor, or educator
• Specialty certification in area of expertise
