Position Summary

Provides direct supervision of a group of children before and after school and in seasonal day camps. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises a group of children.
  • Implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with YMCA values.
  • Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Attends staff meetings.
  • Adheres to association and position training requirements.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
  • Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Works various hours and locations to meet association needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the manager.
  • Transports children in a company vehicle to and from school and other activities.

    • Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age, and be a High school graduate or GED; one year or more of college preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a driver record check.
  • Previous experience working with children, preferably in a day camp or school setting.
  • Experience preferred in areas such as music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
  • Must submit to and pass a licensing fingerprint background check.
  • Must obtain CPR/AED/First Aid certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 30 days of hire.
  • Child Abuse Prevention and Food Handlers training within 30 days of hire.
  • Food Handlers Card must be provided at the time of hire.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a driver record check.
