Tenure-track faculty position in Sociology, a one-person department; part of a strong social science division. This position includes expectations of high quality and engaging instruction in Sociology, and possible additional instruction of junior and senior-level Sociology courses in the BAS of Criminal Justice Studies. Position requires a teaching load of the equivalent of 30 credits/year across all levels of courses.
Priority is on excellent teaching including online instruction, synchronous delivery, along with advising, assessment, service, student recruitment, curriculum development, articulation with high school and university faculty and professional development activities. Division responsibilities are described in the faculty employment policies section of the NWC Board Policy Manual.
Position begins Fall 2026. Faculty Orientation is 8/20-8/21/2026.

- Teach first and second-year courses in Sociology with the ability to teach third and fourth-year Sociology/Criminal Justice classes as part of the BAS program in Criminal Justice Studies. Teach courses in face-to-face, online, Zoom, or a combination of modalities.
- Coordinate the Sociology Program, recommend, orient, and oversee adjunct instructors, recommend curriculum and degree requirements, and participate in program articulation.
- Actively help with the recruitment of new majors (i.e. campus visits, emails, and telephone calls to prospective students).
- Assist in the ongoing development and assessment of curriculum.
- Develop course syllabi for assigned courses and effective varied instruction.
- Evaluate student performance and achievement of course, program, and all-college student learning outcomes.
