Electrical Controls Engineer – Wichita Falls, TX

, the leading manufacturer of architectural and automotive glass in North America, is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Controls Engineer to support Line 1 Automation and Air Separation Unit at our Wichita Falls, Texas location.
Our Wichita Falls facility specializes in the production of flat glass using the float process, serving key markets including automotive, trade, and mirror applications. As the Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for safely getting power to all plant operations, protecting our people, and enabling efficient manufacturing of glass. Your duties will include developing, testing, and troubleshooting electrical devices, managing the manufacturing process of new electrical equipment, maintaining and improving current equipment, creating automation solutions, using design software to produce or revise schematics, and overseeing troubleshooting of equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Understanding, implementing, and troubleshooting designs using technical drawings and manufacturer’s instructions.
- Interacting with employees (within maintenance and other departments), contractors, and vendors using verbal and written communication.
- Making presentations for projects and training for coworkers.
- Attending company and department meetings.
- Creating or revising plant equipment documentation and records.
- Preparing cost estimates and specifications for projects, equipment upgrades, and other initiatives.
- Decision making and submitting store stock additions for spare parts to assure process reliability.
- Supervising project installation by internal plant maintenance and contractors (though maintenance personnel do not directly report to this person).
- Maintaining facility utilities and process equipment, and driving efficiency improvements.
- Working with systems that include switch gear, emergency generators, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), process instrumentation, robotics, safety systems, and other industrial equipment.
- B.S. preferred or A.S. plus equivalent experience.
- Siemens, Allen Bradley, and/or Modicon PLC/HMI experience preferred.
- iFix, Ignition, or other SCADA experience, a plus.
- Designing control systems including VFDs, especially AB, ABB, Danfoss, and Yaskawa.
- Expertise troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and controls problems to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams.
- Experience and ability to use CAD software preferred, especially Bentley Microstation or AutoCAD.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate activities between multiple groups—technical, engineering, and production.
- Ability to work safely on the floor in an industrial production environment (including wearing required PPE).
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
