Essential Functions of the Registered Nurse

• Provide and coordinate care by assessing the physical and behavioral health needs of patients, developing and implementing nursing care plans, maintaining medical records, and educating patients and families.
• Deliver nursing care within the scope defined by state regulations, facility policies, and corporate procedures.
• Ensure physician orders are legible, transcribed correctly, and enacted appropriately.
• Continuously assess patient status, document pertinent information, and notify physicians of significant changes.
• Develop specific treatment plans, completing the initial plan upon admission.
• Apply universal precautions in direct patient care.
• Accurately administer medications per orders and document controlled substance administration.
• Complete admission and discharge processes efficiently and accurately.
• Cultivate therapeutic rapport while maintaining professional boundaries and detachment.
• Coordinate unit activities as directed.
• Communicate professionally with patients, visitors, coworkers, and treatment team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Licensure/Experience/Skill Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current RN license in Texas or a multistate license.
• CPR and SAMA certification required (training available upon hire).
