Essential Functions of the Registered Nurse
- Provide and coordinate care by assessing the physical and behavioral health needs of patients, developing and implementing nursing care plans, maintaining medical records, and educating patients and families.
- Deliver nursing care within the scope defined by state regulations, facility policies, and corporate procedures.
- Ensure physician orders are legible, transcribed correctly, and enacted appropriately.
- Continuously assess patient status, document pertinent information, and notify physicians of significant changes.
- Develop specific treatment plans, completing the initial plan upon admission.
- Apply universal precautions in direct patient care.
- Accurately administer medications per orders and document controlled substance administration.
- Complete admission and discharge processes efficiently and accurately.
- Cultivate therapeutic rapport while maintaining professional boundaries and detachment.
- Coordinate unit activities as directed.
- Communicate professionally with patients, visitors, coworkers, and treatment team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Licensure/Experience/Skill Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current RN license in Texas or a multistate license.
- CPR and SAMA certification required (training available upon hire).
