The NIAR Full Scale Structural Test lab is looking for a student assistant.
Job SummaryA student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job DutiesDaily tasks may require access to elevated work locations (man lifts and ladders), sanding and surface preparation of metals and composites, bonding and soldering of sensors and wiring, cable management and cable connection maintenance, sensor calibrations, data collection, and occasional use of Microsoft Office tools for updating records and inventory management.
Required EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent
Additional Requirements- Technical, electrical, engineering, and other related fields of study.
- The work is on-site at the NIAR ASTEC Coliseum facility in Park City, KS.
Industrial electrical technician job duties include, use of ladders or aerial lifting equipment, working at elevated heights, soldering and bonding, sanding and surface preparation, cable management and connector pinning, and other related technical tasks.
Physical Requirements- Ability to remain in a stationary position.
- Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators.
- Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
