Overview
Title:
Surgical Assistant
Practice:
Mid-Kansas Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Working hours:
Usually a 4-day work week within office hours of Monday through Thursday 7am-5:30pm;
Fridays 7am-3pm
Travel is anticipated between our two locations:
- Ensure that all patients receive the highest quality of care and service
- Communicate with all patients (both in-person and by phone) in a friendly and professional manner
- Maintain positive, pleasant, and professional relationships between patients, staff members, and surgeons
- Assist oral surgeons during surgical procedures and prepare instruments, materials, and equipment needed for various surgical procedures
- Support efforts that provide a clean and professional environment for all patients, including, but not limited to, ensuring that operatories are clean, supplies are adequate, equipment is maintained, and compliance with all company policies is maintained
- Monitor patient s vital signs during surgical procedures and provide support as needed
- Assist with postoperative care, including patient education and follow-up instructions
- Document patient encounters and surgical procedures accurately
- Foster a collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, efficient workflow, and exceptional patient care
- Attend and participate in regular team meetings
- Adhere to best practices, established protocols, and highest patient safety standards
Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required (some college preferred)
- Previous clinical experience. Experience as an oral surgery assistant or dental assistant is preferred. (Will train the right candidate.)
- Basic life support certification required. Employer will provide training if the candidate is not current

- Overtime is sometimes required as needed to perform job functions
- Some travel as needed for training and to perform job functions
- Safety procedures required, including protection to minimize the risks from X-rays
- Potential long hours standing
