Robert J Dole VA Medical Center is hiring a full time General orthopedic surgeon with emphasis on total joints: hips, knees, shoulders and arthroscopy. The incumbent may be asked to provide care in various settings to include outpatient clinics, inpatient units such as Intensive Care and Med/Surg, and in the Emergency Department. The duties and responsibilities includes, but are not limited to, the following:
- Responsible for all aspects of medical care and provide or assist residents and/or the mid-level practitioner in the process of evaluation and treatment of the Orthopedic Surgery service patients
- Perform consultations within their own and other service lines as indicated
- Responsible for the provision of clinical care, graduate and undergraduate medical education, and scientific research as appropriate
- Perform surgery and provide pre-op and post-op care as indicated for major and minor procedures, as well as orthopedic consultation for inpatients and outpatients
- Timely document (notes and encounter forms) in accordance with facility policy
- Teach colleagues, residents, medical and nursing students and other ancillary staff
US Citizenship, Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine,
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Residency Training:
Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
