Program Overview

The Way to Work (TWTW) Summer Youth Employment Program is a life‑changing opportunity designed for 14‑17‑year‑olds to gain real‑world work experience, develop essential life skills, and contribute to the community for 8‑10 weeks.

• Limited Spots: 150 temporary/part‑time seasonal youth workers; shortlisting if applications exceed available positions.

• Serve as a role model while promoting the program’s mission.
• Promote the City of Wichita’s mission and values.
• Accept and respect each program participant as an individual.
• Identify personal and professional goals and be a willing participant in the development process.
• Maintain acceptable attendance practices for the entire duration of the summer program.
• Additional job duties will be assigned once youth identify their specific placements in the community.

• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
• Interact with other youth and staff in a pleasant and polite manner.
• Perform basic tasks such as reading, writing, and following instructions.
• Ability and willingness to learn new skills.
• Age 14‑17; applicants must submit youth/participant information (parent or guardian information not sufficient).

• Program begins:
  Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
• Youth Pre‑Employment and Guardian Meeting – Friday, March 13, 2026, 8:30 am‑11:30 am or 1:00 pm‑4:00 pm (required).
• Youth Training – Tuesday, May 26, 2026 to Friday, May 29, 2026 (required).
