In cooperation with parents, the Catholic school teacher is responsible for forming the whole person spiritually, academically, emotionally, socially, and physically. The teacher goes beyond instruction, modeling Christian values through words and actions.

• Promulgate teachings consistent with Catholic principles and conduct oneself in a manner consistent with Catholic moral standards.
• Maintain a valid diocesan teacher’s contract and a valid, properly endorsed Kansas teaching license.
• Collaborate with the principal to build a faith community among faculty, staff, and students.
• Carry out all teaching assignments and other responsibilities as assigned by the principal or outlined in the school’s faculty handbook.
• Develop a close working relationship with parents, who are the primary educators of their children.
• Integrate moral values throughout the curriculum and into all activities.
• Create a classroom environment that respects the human dignity of every child, regardless of capabilities and disabilities.
• Implement diocesan curriculum, policies, guidelines, and programs.
• Plan the educational process and implement instructional activities that provide the best opportunities for students to master required outcomes.
• Provide proper supervision of students at all times.
• Maintain professionalism in manner, appearance, promptness, and job performance as outlined in the faculty handbook.
• Participate in professional development activities to enhance skills as an effective teacher.
• Fulfill diocesan policies on suspected abuse of children (VIRTUS).
• Refuse to use the school to further personal ends through sales of goods, products, or publications.
• Consider teaching contract obligations conscientiously as binding.
• Perform other related tasks assigned by the principal or central office administrators as designated by the superintendent.

• Kansas State Certification as an Elementary Teacher.

Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copier, fax machine, and telephone.

Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Works in standard office and school building environments.
