Position: Late Night Leader - Northwest Y (Part Time)

Overview

GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the supervision of the Senior Program Director, the Late Night Leader will assist with implementing programming, provide a safe environment for teens, participate directly with teens through organized activities and assure positive customer service for all participants.

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum age of 21
  • Relevant work experience working with high school youth

Physical/Mental Requirements:

  • Must be able to routinely perform the following physical activities: climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, stand, walk and perform light to moderate physical activity for extended periods of time, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear and have visual acuity
  • Must have ability to communicate effectively; both orally and in writing
  • Must possess problem solving, organizational and task management skills; ability to make independent and sound decisions in a rapidly changing environment
  • Must demonstrate a high level of maturity, patience, dependability, sound judgment and the desire to work with all ages, especially youth
  • Must exhibit initiative in the absence of supervision
  • Must be able to relate to and work with diverse groups of people in a friendly and consistent manner
  • Must work collaboratively as a team member as well as independently and lead by assigned goals, duties and deadlines
  • Must present a neat and professional appearance at all times

Job Requirements:

  • Commitment to the YMCA mission, vision and values
  • Must attend New Employee Orientation within 30 days of hire
  • Complete CPR/AED, First Aid, and O2, in accordance with Conditions of Employment
  • Learn all emergency procedures and action plans for the branch
  • Understand and abide-by all policies and procedures as set forth by the association
  • Work a schedule that reflects the needs of the branch; specifically late nights
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for building effective, authentic relationships with participants, volunteers and staff; greeting and becoming familiar with participants by name.
  • Attending all mandatory staff meetings and in-service hours
  • Assisting Late Night Coordinator with implementing quality programming; taking responsibility for setting up activities in advance so that schedules can be maintained using the posted timeline.
  • Participating with the teens during snack, organized games and theme activities.
  • Maintaining effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and staff.
  • Referring program inquiries/concerns to the Late Night Coordinator.
  • Ensuring the program is operating in a safe and purposeful manner, ensuring that all YMCA guidelines are met and exceeded.
  • Responsible for adhering to staff schedules and assigned tasks.
  • Completing incident/accident reports when needed and reporting to Senior Program Director within 24 hours of event.
  • Communicating important program issues and information to the Late Night Coordinator.
  • Responsible for being a team player with all staff.
  • Responsible for scheduled hours; communicating as far in advance as possible if unable to work.
  • Following and enforcing all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.
  • Following all required reporting procedures for reporting suspected child abuse.
  • Maintaining a positive, consistent model of discipline.
  • Vigilantly supervising groups of teens/areas as assigned; being aware of lines of sight and reporting any behavior concerns to the Late Night Coordinator.
  • Child Abuse Prevention - Responsible for adhering to boundary policies, attends required training, follows procedures for high-risk activities and supervision, reports suspicious behaviors and policy violations, and complies with mandated reporting.
  • Supporting Strong Community Campaign fundraising.
  • All other duties as assigned.
