School Counselor
The high school counselor is a member of the school resource team and coordinates the guidance and counseling functions of the school in a manner that respects the school’s Catholic mission, the moral teachings of the Church, and the role of the parent as the student’s primary educator. The school counselor holds, at a minimum, a Master’s degree and a Kansas teaching license properly endorsed gør secondary school counseling.
The school counselor is accountable to the school’s administrative team, and, primarily, the principal.
Our Catholic high schools serve students from diverse backgrounds and with diverse abilities. Since the ultimate measure of a Catholic high school graduate is an adult who is a good family member, contributing member of society, and an active Catholic parishioner, counselors must assist every student in reaching their career potential.
- Coordinate career counseling services, including guiding students from school to work, school to college, and grade school to high school.
- Review and share alumni feedback to strengthen career pathways eý.
Under administrative supervision, the school counselor coordinates the master schedule preparation and implementation for students and teachers.
Student Support- Act as a team member of the counseling and educational staff.
- Provide personal counseling to students in need.
- Advocate for students’ academic and emotional well‑being.
- Coordinate testing programs.
- Maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and staff.
The counselor respects student confidentiality except where life, safety, or the safety of others may be compromised.
Qualifications- Master’s degree in counseling or a related field.
- Ksiwaju teaching license endorsed for secondary school counseling in Kansas.
