Location: Dodge City, Kansas (will primarily work from the Koch office in Wichita, KS; initial travel to Dodge City 50‑75% of the time, decreasing to ~25% as operations mature)

Summary: The Process Controls Engineer supports safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the Koch Fertilizer plant fleet, focusing on the development and improvement of process control performance through close collaboration with plant staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and improve plant’s process control and safety system performance.
• Identify process control optimization opportunities and advanced control solutions aligned with Koch’s business goals.
• Ensure Functional Safety requirements are followed, and Safety Instrumented System (SIS) performance meets design specifications.
• Maintain Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), control narratives, instrument and valve data sheets, and other process safety documents related to controls.
• Work with Operators to review control performance, troubleshoot issues, and lead technical investigations related to process controls.
• Perform field inspections of instrumentation and control equipment as required.
• Collaborate with Process Engineers and Field Technicians to troubleshoot instrumentation, process control, and plant performance problems.
• Develop implementation plans to drive control performance improvements.
• Coordinate with project engineering, plant operations, maintenance, reliability, and other capabilities on larger projects and initiatives.
• Comply with all site and fleet requirements regarding stewardship and personnel safety.
• Travel 10‑15% of the time.

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience with Process Control Engineering concepts and equipment.
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) OR 1 or more years of relevant industry or military experience.
• Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or sponsorship.

Additional Qualifications that Will Put You Ahead:

• Experience implementing regulatory control schemes and DCS or PLC configuration.
• Experience with Safety Instrumented Systems and Functional Safety.
• Experience troubleshooting, revising, and optimizing existing control schemes.
• Loop tuning and control loop performance improvement experience.
• Experience in the fertilizer industry with manufacturing processes, or experience in refining and major petrochemical operations.
