Perform a variety of tests and analysis on metallic and non-metallic materials for manufacturing verification.
Job Responsibilities- Chemical testing and evaluation of plating, anodizing, and paint.
- Tensile and conductivity testing to determine aluminum alloy tempers.
- Micro-hardness testing of steel alloys to determine depth of case harden or decarburization.
- Evaluation of weld samples for personnel and schedule certification.
- Examination and mechanical testing of composite samples to determine compliance with material specifications.
- Physical and mechanical testing of raw materials; adhesives, sealant, cables.
- Interior burn testing of materials per regulations.
- Mechanical and chemical property tests to monitor process control parameters for manufacturing facilities.
- Assists Engineers in metallurgical, non-metallic, or chemical testing and evaluation.
- Independently work on standard or routine processes, control testing, and evaluation.
- Compile and analyze data, maintain records, and advise supervision on irregularities and discrepancies.
- Other related duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree required in Chemical Engineering
- Bachelor’s degree required in Manufacturing Engineering
- Bachelor’s degree required in Materials Engineering
- Bachelor’s degree required in Metallurgical Engineering
- Or related field
- Experience with True Chem, LIMS, and/or SAP is preferred
- Experience with wet chemistry testing and solution analysis is preferred
- Basic machining experience and familiarity with aerospace materials is preferred
- Experience in material testing lab is preferred
- Experience using laboratory equipment, such as, load frames, hardness testers, and microscopes
- Good oral communication and writing skills.
- Proficient with PC based computer software applications.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Desire to perform “hands-on” work, a strong work ethic, and a desire to learn.
- Capable of working to a set of defined requirements (procedures, drawings, specifications)
