JOB SUMMARY
Provide expertise in support of quality improvements in products and processes and provide guidance in matters relating to regulatory and oversight environments. Quality Engineers support various production areas across Fabrication, Assembly Aircraft Completions and Delivery, as well as functional areas such as Supply Chain, Engineering, and Customer Service.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES- Gather and analyze performance data (scrap, rejections, defects, rework) to aid in the development of process improvement projects. As needed, coordinate across other production and functional areas to ensure maximum quality and efficiencies are achieved.
- Conduct process or product based audits in production or functional areas or within the supply base (external suppliers).
- Prioritizes issues based on internal/external customer needs.
- Accomplishes the required corrective action. Where process limitations dictate, will coordinate across multiple disciplines to assure corrective action is achieved.
- Mentors other Quality Engineers, leads Quality implementations in new areas or with suppliers and makes improvements to existing Quality processes.
- Demonstrates the ability to manage a project, including working with outside suppliers or specialists with minimal guidance or supervision. Proactively provides status visibility and develops solutions to issues.
- Demonstrates the ability to teach and lead others with the flexibility to effectively participate in a team environment.
- Prepares periodic activity and status reports. Performs special assignments as required by management.
- Demonstrates the ability to concisely and effectively communicate technical and business information, both written and oral.
- Trains Quality Engineers in the operation of Quality systems and procedures.
- Engineering or related STEM degree plus 5 years of quality/manufacturing or relative engineering experience required
- In lieu of degree, Aviation, Business, or related technical degree and 10 years of Quality aviation experience required OR related aviation technology associates degree or A&P license, and 10 years of Quality aviation experience required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-starter and understands the need for working with a sense of urgency.
- Able to work with and lead teams.
- Professional and diplomatic demeanor.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Experience with conducting internal or external audits.
- Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO
9001 Standards. - Familiar with NADCAP and Special Processing.
- ASQ Quality Certifications, preferred.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with the use of tools such as PFMEA, 6 Sigma, Lean Principles, and statistical techniques.
- Project management experience, preferred.
