South East Dance is seeking a new Chair and a Trustee with Finance Expertise to join our Board at a pivotal moment in our development. Based at The Dance Space, our home in the heart of Brighton & Hove’s cultural quarter, we champion dance as a force for positive change—supporting artists, engaging communities, and creating equitable, accessible spaces for people to move, connect and create.

As a trustee, you will help guide the strategic direction of the organisation, ensure robust governance, and support our commitment to equity, inclusion and social impact. The Chair will provide leadership to the Board, act as a critical friend to the Executive team, and help champion our mission publicly and across the sector. The Trustee with Finance Expertise will play a key role in financial oversight, supporting our Finance & Audit Sub-Committee, and contributing to long‑term financial planning.

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and especially encourage people with lived experience underrepresented in our governance structures to apply.

This is a voluntary role. Trustees are expected to attend quarterly Board meetings (usually evenings in Brighton), Finance & Audit Sub-Committee meetings where relevant, and occasional events. Remote access is available for some meetings.
