EY Private Tax is a growing practice within the organization, focused on serving privately held companies. Clients range from family-owned businesses to private equity owned companies, spanning from start-up to multi-billion-dollar global private companies. You will work on technically demanding tax planning and compliance projects and have opportunities to progress to senior manager with ample training and support.

• Support our senior managers through partners in providing tax services.
• Balance your time between compliance and planning, interacting directly with clients with a focus on flow-through entities (partnerships).
• Develop into a trusted advisor and role model across multiple teams.
• Prepare or review federal and state tax returns for U.S. partnerships, including foreign reporting requirements for cross-border tax compliance (foreign partnerships, foreign corporations, foreign disregarded entities, foreign affiliate reporting).
• Provide tax research, draft tax memoranda, and assist in quantitative modeling for private client tax advisory services.
• Identify and communicate significant tax matters to Managers and Senior Managers.
• Liaise with other service lines and subject matter professionals; build long-term client relationships and tailor services to client needs.
• Communicate complex tax issues to non-tax professionals and clients.
• Maintain and share up-to-date technical knowledge and best practices.
• Manage, coach, and develop a team of tax professionals; review work and ensure team members have needed tools and opportunities to excel.
• Identify and react to risks and opportunities to improve services and processes.

To qualify for the role, you must have

• A bachelor’s degree in a related field, with tax, business or financial planning experience.
• A CPA certification or membership in The Bar.
• Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills, and the confidence to challenge colleagues and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
• Minimum of 5 years of work experience in professional services or professional tax organization.
• Ability to work in a balanced hybrid environment and willingness to travel as needed.

Ideally, you will have

• A commitment to continuing learning.
• Proficiency with tax software such as RIA, CCH Intelli Connect, One Source, BNA or Lexis Nexis.
• Experience with Gift, Estate and Trust tax planning and compliance is a plus.
• Experience in managing, coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.

• Comprehensive compensation and benefits package with base salary ranges: US-wide $106,500–$195,100; NYC Metro/Washington State/California (excluding Sacramento) $127,700–$221,700. Total Rewards include medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k), and paid time off.
• Hybrid model: most client-serving roles require in-person collaboration about 40–60% of the time.
