Position: Assistant Gymnastics Competitive Coach - Northwest YMCA

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Staff Duties:

  • Assisting with recruiting, training, developing, and scheduling a high-performing coaching staff focused on providing exceptional service and instruction, working well as a team.
  • Supporting strategies to motivate staff for goal achievement and retention.
  • Assisting the head coach in reviewing and evaluating participant performance.
  • Documenting coaches' meetings, development, and training sessions as needed.
  • Tracking coach certification records to ensure they are current in accordance with Conditions of Employment.
  • Team Operations:

  • Ensuring team compliance with YMCA standards and operational methods.
  • Supporting member-service and engagement strategies in all interactions with parents to promote positive recruitment and retention; maintaining accurate records of retention, and participation of members and non-members.
  • Building and expanding program enrollment and participation.
  • Delivering high-quality coaching to team participants.
  • Being visible and approachable to coaches, parents, and members.
  • Responding to parent, member, and community inquiries and concerns within 24 hours.
  • Communicating team information, changes, and needs promptly to supervisors and branch staff.
  • Providing clear written and verbal communication to team parents and coaches regarding practices, travel, and YMCA team policies.
  • Fiscal Management:

  • Maintaining expenses within approved budget targets.
  • Adhering to coaching schedules within payroll budget constraints.
  • Facilities Development:

  • Understanding all risk management procedures and policies.
  • Maintaining program areas and equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe condition; reporting irregularities promptly.
  • Keeping an up-to-date inventory of equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Strong Community Campaign/Financial Development:

  • Leading assigned aspects of the Strong Community Campaign, special events, and fundraising efforts to meet financial goals.
  • Other:

  • Participating as a member of the branch management team to support overall branch operations.
  • Communicating promptly with branch leadership and departmental staff.
  • Attending relevant training and conferences for professional growth.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • EFFECT ON END RESULT: Providing leadership and guidance to achieve program goals with high participation, satisfaction, and retention of members, participants, and staff.
