Machine Operator - Drop Hammer

Set up and operate drop hammer to bend, form, stretch, notch, punch, or straighten metals and structural shapes as specified by work orders, blueprints, drawings, or layouts.

• Sets stops on machine bed, changes dies, and adjusts components, such as ram, when making multiple or successive passes.
• Operates drop hammer to bend, form, notch, stretch, punch or straighten metals.
• Selects and positions flat, block, radius, or special purpose die sets into ram and bed of machine.
• Installs, aligns, and secures gears, holding fixtures, dies to machine bed, using gauges, and/or templates, and hand tools.
• Measures workpiece and verifies dimensions and weight, using micrometer, template, straightedge, and scale.
• Inspects workpiece for defects.
• Lifts, positions, and secures workpiece between dies of machine using crane.
• Lubricates workpiece with oil.
• Grinds out burrs and sharp edges, using portable grinder, speed lathe and polishing jack.
• Handforms, cuts, or finishes workpiece using tools.
