To grind a variety of aircraft parts. May be required to work with higher grade operators while in training.
Job Responsibilities- Plans and performs a sequence of operations to set up and operate internal, external, surface and centerless grinders to produce parts to close tolerances and a high degree of finish from various metals and alloys where standard operating methods are available.
- Determines sequence of machining operations as applied to machine being used, selects proper chucking device or fixture and makes necessary set up and adjustments of machine. Mounts and adjusts grinder wheel trusting device and dresses grinder wheel.
- Mounts and balances new grinder wheels when the occasion arises.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments which may include shadograph, air bore gages, air plug gages, surface analyses, dial indicator gages, vernier calipers, and micrometers.
- Responsible only for own work.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Must have a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level Work Keys certification.
ExperienceNo experience required.
Working ConditionsTypical machine shop working conditions. May be dirty and exposed to cuttings.
