We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) part of the US Army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless and Bell's High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next generation aircraft.

This position is onsite in Wichita, Kansas supporting the FLRAA structures build.

Inspector Assembly – Wichita, KS FLRAA

This position will be responsible for inspecting parts, assemblies and aircraft by visual examination or with precision measurement instruments for the FLRAA aircraft. May also be required to inspect jigs, fixtures, installations, materials, finishes, fittings, dimensions, and layouts. Will also prepare parts, assemblies and installation digital data packages for Customer review and acceptance.

What you’ll be doing as an Inspector Assembly:

  • Operates special kinds of testing instruments and equipment as required.
  • Works from complicated or detailed blueprints, diagrams, Digital Design Systems (PEO & 3DX), etc., to obtain proper specifications.
  • May be assigned to various assembly inspection groups or to other phases of inspection related to aircraft structure acceptance. This can include First Article planning and First Article inspections.
  • Approves acceptable work or rejects all work which fails to meet required standards and recommends corrective action to prevent recurrence.
  • Coordinates with various groups and organizations for acceptance. Will communicate via verbal, written and visual (spreadsheets and charts) with Engineers, Configuration Control and members of the Customer organizations frequently as part of normal quality operations.
  • Will work in applications such as but not limited to PEO, 3DX, and SAP.
  • Will perform first article inspections in 3DX, and present parts/assemblies to members of the Customer Team (DCMA, Army and SRD) for acceptance inspections.

Skills You Bring to This Role:

  • Experience in Digital Design Systems such as but not limited to 3DX, CATIA V5, V6 etc.
  • GD&T Rev AMSE Y14.5 – 2009 or higher.
  • Strong working knowledge of Enovia, CAMS and VQM.
  • Familiar in AS9102 for First Article Inspection process and requirements is preferred.

What you need to be successful:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least 2 years of experience in assembly inspection / quality role at an aerospace, defense, or metal/composites fabrication facility
  • 1 year of aircraft assembly experience, Bell assembly experience a plus.
  • Preferred knowledge of precision measuring instruments and special alignments
