World-wide aerospace manufacturer is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer (large aerostructure parts) for their Wichita, KS location. Company is a leading aerospace partner for detailed parts and sub-assemblies with specialization in saturation shot peening, shot peen forming, chemical processing, painting, assembly, non‑destructive testing, and machining.
Job Duties:
- Provide numerical control, machining and programming technical experience for large parts.
- Establish technical requirements for manufacturing and production.
- Plan, create, verify and revise Machine Control Data (MCD), geometry and documentation that directs the operations for a complete spectrum of numerically controlled equipment required to manufacture and inspect large parts and tools.
- Plan and guide the development and integration of new machining techniques and manufacturing methods, processes, software and equipment for large parts.
- Plan and design tools and fixtures for NC manufacturing.
- Prepare NC programs for multi‑axis machines by using CATIA V5 NC.
- Verify NC programs on VERICUT.
- Optimize programs and machining process for cost reduction.
- Create setup and manufacturing instructions.
- Investigate and initiate corrective action of machining problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality and cost effectiveness.
- About 75% of time is spent on creating and verifying NC programs and 25% on other functions.
- Make decisions concerning personal time management and task prioritization to deliver quality service, on time and under budget.
- Generate NC programming using multiple programming languages.
Requirements:
- Three to five years’ experience in CATIA V5 for various metals
- Previous CNC machine operator experience in aerospace environment preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technologies, Journeyman Certification or equivalent preferred
- Must be able to read and interpret drawings and specifications for manufacturing requirements
- Must have solid machining knowledge, understand machine setup and work holding principles
- Must have strong mechanical aptitude, good reasoning and problem solving skills
- Proficient computer skills and be able to learn new software applications
- Knowledge of Data Management (PDM) and Configuration Management principles
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to function with minimum supervision
- Ability to multi‑task
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English language.
- Period requirement of 3 years minimum
Hours: Mon. to Fri., 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Compensation: $35 to $42/HR BOE
