Position: CRNA for Ambulatory Surgery Center

Overview

Wichita Endoscopy Center is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join our team. We will consider Contract, PRN, PT, or FT candidates. This position has a very flexible schedule that can be very accommodating for the ideal candidate. The schedule could consist of multiple half days throughout the week, 2-3 full-days per week, or Monday-Friday 8-5:00; with anywhere from 15-40 hours per week depending on the candidate preferences.

Wichita Endoscopy Center is an ambulatory surgery center, which provide excellent, compassionate, and comprehensive digestive health care.

SCOPE:

A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who practices in collaboration with the physician and healthcare team to deliver high quality anesthesia and pain care services.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs and documents the pre-anesthesia assessment and evaluation of the patient.
  • Reviews laboratory/ diagnostic studies.
  • Obtains informed consent for anesthesia and related services.
  • Selects, obtains, orders and administers pre-anesthetic medication or treatment.
  • Develops and implements an anesthesia care plan.
  • Selects, obtains, prepares and uses equipment, invasive and non-invasive monitors, supplies and drugs for the administration of sedation, anesthesia and pain management services; performs safety checks as needed.
  • Selects, orders, obtains and administers analgesic and anesthetic agents, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, or fluids necessary to provide anesthesia services.
  • Performs all aspects of airway management, including fiber optic intubation.
  • Facilitates emergence and recovery from anesthesia by evaluating patient response, and selecting, ordering and administering medications, fluids, and ventilator support to maintain patient stability during transfer.
  • Evaluates the patient's response to anesthesia and surgery; takes appropriate corrective action during the post-anesthesia period.
  • Provides post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation and care.

ADDITIONAL

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrates support for patient safety when performing his/her job functions, and takes action to correct observed risks to patient safety.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population served.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of infection prevention and control techniques. Displays excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to implement and adhere to facility policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates self-directed learning through completion of orientation requirements, nursing certification and updates, and continuing education program.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR

EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduate of a nurse anesthesia program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.
  • Holds current certification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • RN state license and current registration with the Kansas State Board of Nursing. Current CPR and ACLS certification required. Must maintain continuing education requirements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
