Job Summary and Qualifications
The Labor and Delivery unit delivers approximately 350 babies per month and care for 700-900 outpatients per month. Their focus is on high risk labor for women age 14-55. They have the highest employee engagement scores in the hospital, with very active committees which contribute to the shared governance on the unit. Over 70% of LDR nurses have received their National Nursing Certifications.
Additionally this unit has been remodeled and the project was completed in Spring 2023.
Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. Responsible for directing and coordinating all nursing care for the department-specific patient population in accordance with the standards of nursing care and practice as defined by Wesley Medical Center and the Kansas Nurse Practice Act. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes.
Supports the organization vision and mission. Utilizes knowledge of patient’s age and cultural diversity in the provision of patient care. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.
What you will do in this role:
You will be responsible for delivering patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation.
You will be responsible for directing and coordinating all nursing care for the department specific patient population
You will be collaborating with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes.
You will systematically evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice by participation in quality of care activities to initiate, implement, and sustain process improvements.
You will be collaborating with the patient, significant others and health care providers in providing and advocating for patient care.?
You will monitor the patient’s progress toward the attainment of outcomes.
You will be participating in the improvement of operational functions of the department.
You will consider safety and cost effectiveness when delivering patient care.
You will secure, administer and handle medication according to established guidelines.
You will utilize critical thinking and problem solving skills to identify, interpret and access appropriate resources in patient specific scenarios.
What qualifications you will need for this role:
Current Licensure in the State of Kansas as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Current Multi-State Licensure as a Registered Nurse.
