The Crewperson 5, Pest Control is a second‑shift position that delivers pest‑control service across all USD 259 sites. The employee works the hours of 11:00 am–7:30 pm, maintains safety, and supports the Facilities Division’s mission.

The Crewperson 5 is responsible for the maintenance and pest control of all USD 259 sites.

• Provide second‑shift pest control services, including treatment of exterior, perimeter, and interior areas for roaches, ants, spiders, termites, and other insects.
• Mix and apply pesticides safely following label directions and state regulations.
• Maintain and clean sprayers, dusters, and other equipment.
• Ensure accurate record keeping of treatments for the required three‑year period.
• Assist with the training, development, and supervision of other team members.
• Cooperate with coworkers, maintaining active communication and a positive public‑relations image for USD 259.
• Take responsibility for the use and inventory of all tools, supplies, and materials.
• Adhere to all safety regulations set forth by the State of Kansas Board of Agriculture.
• Report hazardous conditions promptly and safely.
• Plan and estimate labor and material costs of assignments; assist with preliminary budgeting.
• Assist in maintaining open lines of communication with supervisors and stakeholders.
• Demonstrate strong initiative, efficiency, and dependability.
• Support the district’s organizational goals and mission.
• Attend all required meetings and in‑services.

Assist with any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

• Hand tools and power equipment specific to pest control.
• Smart boards, iPads, computers, copiers, scanners, fax machines.
• Blowers, chainsaws, edgers, hedge clippers, ice melt, lift, mowers, pole saws, sprayers, trucks, tractors, trailers, trash vacuums, weed‑eaters.

• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Perform manual labor such as climbing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs, occasionally 100 lbs with assistance).
• Operate equipment safely.
• Work split or extended hours; overtime on short notice may be required.
• Maintain continuous safety awareness and record‑keeping.

• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Team player with the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work.
• Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Word & Outlook).
• Professional demeanor, confidentiality, and positive attitude.
• Understanding of USD 259 mission and goals.
• Knowledge of pest control regulations and insect identification.
• Ability to supervise and train crew members.

• High School Diploma or GED required (preferred). 3+ years of commercial mowing and landscaping experience preferred.
• State Certification Category 7a–7e (wood‑destroying organisms & general pest control).
• Commercial Class C Kansas Driver’s License.
• Must work second shift during the school year.
• Valid Kansas driver’s license at all times while employed.
