Quality Control Technician
Metal Arts is seeking a Quality Control Technician to join our team. The role involves daily inspections of shop activities, fabrication quality checks, and collaboration with fabricators to address any defects.
Responsibilities- Spend 6 to 7 hours daily walking the shop and performing inspections.
- Inspect fabrication components for fit, weld input, and overall quality.
- Input inspection data into the MRP system via tablet.
- Actively engage fabricators when inspections fail or are nominally passed, discussing exact failures and reasons.
- Describe to the fabricator what is required to pass; provide input on necessary repairs.
- Maintain knowledge of AWS, AISC, and RCSC requirements for structural steel.
- Interpret fabrication drawings and documents with exceptional understanding.
- Understand all weld symbols and visual acceptance requirements for welds.
- Understand manufacturing processes and how they affect quality.
- Work closely with quality team members to create an effective team and utilize shared knowledge.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Shop Managers, and Detailers to ensure quality of steel products.
- Adhere to all company policies and maintain a minimum of absences and tardiness.
