Alterations Specialist Responsibilities
  • Welcome all customers with genuine, friendly enthusiasm over the phone, virtual chats and in person, communicating clearly and concisely, adapting style to suit customers by problem solving and resolving conflict.
  • Use all systems to manage customer flow and deliver a five‑star customer experience.
  • Maintain all service levels by being prepared, welcoming, and meeting customers’ emotional and practical needs through an operational checklist.
  • Provide an exceptional service experience to multiple customers at one time, contributing to the store’s Five‑Star Customer Service achievement.
  • Proactively address customer concerns with confidence, escalating when necessary and partnering with leadership.
  • Communicate how alterations can perfect a dress for an event, promoting alteration services and personalization options.
  • Assist stylists in closing sales by consulting customers on gown fit and customization.
  • Maintain store standards to support a flawless shopping experience and uphold the dress code policy.
  • Greet and escort all alteration customers to and from appointments.
  • Inspect all garments to ensure pristine condition before final delivery.
  • Respond promptly to all customer questions with product and service information.
  • Build long‑term customer relationships to exceed satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Manage inventory, process special orders, pick‑ups, and uphold quality standards for all merchandise.
  • Ensure alteration pricing meets company standards.
  • Manage all alterations, fittings, sewing, steaming, pressing, and spot cleaning to company standards.
  • Resolve customer service issues swiftly and effectively in compliance with company guidelines.
  • Support all cash wrap behaviors, process transactions accurately, and celebrate every customer.
  • Maintain a clean, organized alterations room.
  • Perform duties and tasks as assigned by store management.
Physical Demands
  • Stand, walk, sit, reach, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for extended periods.
  • Lift or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Use hands and arms to reach tools and objects.
  • Operate POS terminals and computers, count money, and perform fittings.
  • Maintain sharp vision and depth perception while using electronic devices for long periods.
Education & Credentials
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–2 years of prior retail experience in apparel or a specialty store.
  • Prior sewing experience required, preferably in bridal or special‑occasion production.
  • Experience with a computerized POS system is a plus.
