$15.34/hr – $15.34/hr

Performs safety and security work safeguarding persons and property owned or leased by the University by monitoring and authorizing entrance and departure of employees and visitors, patrolling grounds and parking areas for violations, and escorting or transporting individuals to specific locations.

• Patrol assigned areas, maintain building and grounds security, respond to emergency situations, observe and report hazards.
• Assist with emergency and assistance calls, notify appropriate emergency staff as needed.
• Conduct daily monitoring of parking lots for violations and issue parking citations.
• Assist in traffic control duties and in setting up/tearing down parking lot reservations and special event needs.
• Coordinate with University police officers for police‑related tasks and functions as necessary.
• Assist with building evacuations and crowd control.

• Vehicle assist calls.
• Set up and tear down parking lot reservations.
• Write citations and provide excellent customer service.
• Conduct daily monitoring of parking lots for violations.
• Assist with traffic control duties.
• Assist University Police Department when required.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• No prior experience required.

• Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification within six (6) months of hire date.
• Valid driver’s license.

• Efficiently operate the NuPark system.
• Operate a two‑way radio.
• Remain calm under stressful situations.
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Give and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Record information concisely and accurately.
• Read and understand written department guidelines, university policies, laws, rules, and regulations.
• Build and sustain professional, courteous relationships with a diverse constituency of faculty, staff, students, and the public.

Ability to use tools, equipment, and technology necessary to perform the job, including dexterity in instrument manipulation, ability to stand or remain stationary, inspect/surveil materials and reports, communicate with others, drive a state vehicle, move or deliver items, operate a computer and office equipment, and perform safety and security actions as directed. Ability to move or traverse the campus or external environments.

Medium work:
Exert up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly.
