Project and Service Assistant

Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results‑driven and forward‑thinking Project & Service Assistant to join our amazing culture. In this role, you will assist higher‑level and more experienced technicians (e.g. Project & Service Specialists) in performing day‑to‑day work. Acts as a “second set of hands” for the technician, handling CSP and less complex installation tasks. This position is a helper who will provide assistance to complete work required for CSP, service calls, and quoted work orders.

Your work includes assisting with installations, servicing existing systems, programming, and testing, or system start‑up/check‑out.

What

You’ll Do
  • Assist higher‑level and more experienced Project and Service Specialists—installations, programming, tests, repairs, and services across various systems and equipment such as security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation.
  • Drive and operate a variety of equipment, including a bucket truck.
  • Read basic blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications. Use standard test instruments and hand tools.
  • Act as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times, ensuring Convergint is the first choice for service.
  • Take ownership of onsite projects including safety, quality, and performance.
  • Administer functionality tests on cameras, door hardware, and Configuration? Actually: other equipment as needed.
  • Deliver parts and complete other odd jobs as requested.
  • Perform all work in accordance with Federal, State, and local regulations as well as company health and safety policies and procedures.

    Use solid troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.
  • Advise management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, installation techniques, and standards, as well as suggestions for product improvements.
  • Assist with technical aspects of multiple projects with varying timelines and budgets, including programming, graphics development, start‑up, certification testing, customer training, close‑out documentation, and ongoing technical support.
  • Act as backup for other areas such as Fire Test and Inspect department to maintain a high chargeable rate.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

  • Developing technical skills and experience related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
  • Ability to develop basic programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions.
  • Must be a self‑starter and work well without supervision.
