JOB CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY

Positions assigned to this class are responsible for directing the activities, budget, and personnel of assigned divisions within the Town.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is a management level position, recognized as a supervisory and/or organizational authority within a specific discipline and demonstrates specific, broad practical knowledge in a major functional area. Work involves directing, planning and coordinating staff and projects/programs, and budget. Assists with policy development within assigned functional area or the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The following are intended to describe core work functions of this classification. While the level and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary over time depending on the Town’s needs.

  • Manages division staff and projects by directing, overseeing, and participating in the development of department work plans, assigning work activities, projects and programs, monitoring workflow, making presentations, reviewing and evaluating work products, methods, and procedures, monitoring and reporting on activities, interpretation of policies, procedures, regulations, and ordinances, forecasting needs, preparing the budget and monitoring expenses, selection, training, and evaluating personnel, providing and coordinating staff training and setting goals.
  • Develops and implements long range plans or assigned functional areas.
  • Prepares and analyzes surveys used in planning; ensures assigned divisions are efficient and effective in meeting goals and objectives.
  • Manages operations, financial budget, and activities and services; ensures compliance with applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures; coordinates the establishment and review of program and services policies, and division goals and objectives.
  • Researches, analyzes and interprets information relevant to assigned areas of responsibility; compiles financial and statistical records; prepares a variety of operational and activity reports; and submits to executive management; prepares financial projections.
  • Responds to internal and external inquiries.
  • Manages projects as assigned; with contracted vendors.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES
  • Manages the maintenance and repair of Town facilities and grounds.
  • Coordinates work with external service providers.
  • Manages the setup and take down for events.
KNOWLEDGE
  • Managerial principles and practices;
  • Management techniques and options to successfully motivate and supervise staff;
  • Budgeting principles and practices;
  • Project management and programming principles and practices;
  • Applicable Federal, state and local laws, codes, ordinances, rules and regulations;
  • Basic municipal finance principles;
  • Standard office equipment including the computer and programs relevant to the performance of applicable duties and responsibilities;
  • Customer service principles and practices.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience.

Depending on assignment, may require the following Certifications/Licenses
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • OSHA 30
