Tooling Designer

Universal Metal Products (UMP), a trusted leader in precision metal stamping and engineered solutions for the automotive, appliance, and industrial markets, is seeking a skilled Tooling Designer to join our Wickliffe team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on manufacturing environment and enjoys designing tooling that drives quality, efficiency, and innovation.

• Design new tooling, fixtures, and dies for metal stamping operations
• Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models, drawings, and specifications
• Collaborate closely with toolmakers, engineers, and production teams to ensure manufacturability
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tool performance and reduce downtime
• Troubleshoot tooling issues and recommend design modifications
• Maintain documentation, revision control, and design standards

• Experience in tooling design for metal stamping or related manufacturing
• Proficiency in CAD software (Solid Works, AutoCAD, or similar)
• Strong understanding of die construction, materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
• Problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail
