Ember is the UK's first fully-electric, zero-emission coach company. We launched in October 2020 and operate multiple routes across Scotland, including Dundee to Glasgow, Aberdeen to Edinburgh and connections from Edinburgh to the west coast. Other destinations across Scotland will follow in 2025, including Livingston, Perth and Oban.
We’re looking for motivated drivers to join the Ember team. For the right people, we’re happy to discuss relocation packages to various destinations across Scotland.
Responsibilities- Drive and operate Ember coaches safely and on time, providing on-the-ground operational support.
- Maintain outstanding communication and organizational skills, proactively solving problems during delays.
- Act as the main point of contact for customers if they need help or have issues.
- Collaborate closely with the Operations team to uphold Ember’s commitment to quality.
- Take on additional responsibilities and opportunities, including involvement in launching a brand-new hub and supporting new drivers.
- Assist passengers with bags, keep the coach clean, and contribute to a positive boarding experience.
- Learn and use new technology and systems introduced by the company.
- Perform light cleaning duties to maintain top-condition coaches and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
- Contribute constructive input on how to improve operations while maintaining professionalism.
- Full PCV licence:
Category D as a minimum - Up-to-date CPC and a digital tachograph card (or ability to obtain quickly)
- Proven high-quality driving with smooth braking and a commitment to safety
- Flexibility to work early, late or night shifts on any day of the week; scheduling will be planned in advance
We operate a 24/7 service, seven days a week. We provide five weeks’ notice of the rota to allow planning, with frequent overtime opportunities at shorter notice.
Benefits- £15.00 per hour starting rate with a guaranteed 40 hours per week (£31,200 pa); overtime available
- £15.80 per hour after one year (£32,864 pa)
- £16.40 per hour as an Ember Ambassador (£34,112 pa)
- Relief contracts available - £16.81 per hour (base rate plus holiday pay)
- Overtime rates starting at £18.00 per hour, rising to 2x base pay for short-notice cover
- Free CPC renewal for full-time and part-time drivers
