Assistant Accountant

The Role

This is a varied and client-facing role suited to someone with recent practice experience who can manage their own portfolio of clients with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

* Preparation of year-end statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies

* Preparation of corporation tax and personal tax returns

* VAT return preparation and submission

* Management accounts and bookkeeping

* Liaising directly with clients and responding to queries

* Supporting junior staff and reviewing their work where appropriate

* Assisting with HMRC correspondence

About You

* AAT qualified

* Minimum 2–3 years’ experience within an accountancy practice

* Strong working knowledge of cloud software such as Xero, Quick Books, and Sage

* Experience preparing accounts to trial balance stage and beyond

* Good understanding of VAT and basic tax compliance

* Excellent communication and organisational skills

* Ability to manage deadlines across multiple clients
