Accounts Senior

Overview

Clark Wood is working with a well-established, highly regarded independent accountancy practice in Wigan, looking to recruit a semi‑senior/senior accountant to join their growing Accounts team. The firm has a long‑standing presence in the North West, delivering high‑quality accountancy, tax, and advisory services to a varied client base including owner‑managed businesses, SMEs, large corporates and international groups.

• Support accounts assignments from planning through to completion.
• Prepare statutory accounts under FRS 101, FRS 102 and SORP 102.
• Compile management accounts from incomplete records.
• Assist with corporate and personal tax compliance work.
• Handle VAT returns, bank reconciliations, P11
  
  Ds and other ad‑hoc duties.
• Liaise directly with clients, manage day‑to‑day communications, resolve queries and ensure timely delivery of services.
• Provide exposure to more complex accounts preparation work and support the audit team during peak periods.
• Proactively identify opportunities to enhance client service and contribute to continuous improvement within the team.

• Studying ACA or ACCA.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in a similar accounts‑based role within an accountancy practice.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Good Excel and Word skills.
• Proactive, organised approach to managing workloads and deadlines.
• Experience with cloud‑based software such as Xero and Sage is advantageous.
