We're on a journey to build a workforce reflective of our Borough.
We are committed to fostering diverse teams where everybody can bring their authentic selves to work and feel that they belong. If you want to work for a Council where everybody is encouraged to meet their full potential and make a difference in our neighbourhoods, we would love to hear from you!
Your role :This is a unique opportunity to influence service improvement, shape how feedback drives change, and amplify the voice of people who use services. Working within Adult Social Care and the Wigan Safeguarding Adults Board Business Unit, you will play a key role in delivering an effective, responsive complaints service, liaising with residents, professionals and partner agencies.
You will support investigations, provide advice and support with training to staff, and help ensure complaints lead to positive outcomes. By working directly with service users and stakeholders, you will help embed asset-based approaches, improve customer experience, and deliver meaningful change for local people in receipt of Adult Social Care.
About you:You will thrive in this role if you're passionate about making a difference through listening to people and using their experiences to improve services. We're looking for someone who builds positive relationships, works collaboratively, and is committed to delivering excellent outcomes. You'll bring a strong understanding of Adult Social Care, excellent communication and analytical skills, and the confidence to manage sensitive and complex situations with empathy and professionalism.
Organised, resilient and solution‑focused, you'll be able to balance competing priorities, build credibility with a wide range of stakeholders, and help drive continuous improvement through high‑quality customer care and effective complaint resolution.
Wigan Council has been voted ‘Overall Council of the Year’ at the APSE (Association for Public Service Excellence) Awards. We are signed up to the Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment ensuring that your service will be continuous or 'unbroken' between the supporting organisations.
The Progress with Unity plan is a place movement for change for the next decade, bringing a new era for Wigan Borough. It draws on the strengths of our individual organisations, recognising that together we can achieve much more for our communities by delivering on our 2 place missions; create fair opportunities for all children, families, residents and businesses and make our towns and neighbourhoods flourish for those who live and work in them.
Our team sits within the Wigan Safeguarding Adults Board Business Unit, where learning, continuous improvement and putting people at the heart of what we do are central to our culture. What makes this role special is the opportunity to influence real change by turning feedback, complaints and compliments into service improvements and celebrating good practice across Adult Social Care. You will work alongside supportive colleagues, partners and people with lived experience, helping to embed safeguarding learning and asset-based approaches.
This is a rewarding role for someone who wants to make a tangible difference to services and outcomes for local people.
