Follow up. Remove barriers. Help students stay engaged and succeed.
When students attend, arrive on time and stay engaged, they give themselves the best chance of success. When things start to slip, the right contact at the right time can make a real difference.
As our Student Liaison Officer, you'll support students to improve attendance, punctuality and engagement. You'll work with students, parents, carers and colleagues to follow up absences, understand barriers and help students stay connected to learning.
This is a role for someone who is organised, confident and proactive. You'll need to communicate clearly, keep accurate records and manage competing priorities during busy periods.
You'll be working with:- daily attendance and punctuality monitoring
- absence follow-up with students, parents and carers
- student engagement and support
- college systems, reports and records
- Personal Tutors, Heads of Department and Student Services
- safeguarding referrals and appropriate escalation
- learner voice and engagement activity
You'll bring strong communication skills, good organisation, confidence using systems and a student-centred approach. Experience in education, administration, student support, customer service or attendance work would be helpful.
At Wigan & Leigh College, you'll be part of a Head of Studies team that helps students feel noticed, supported and expected to succeed.
