This post is ideal for an experienced clinician with a good understanding of Haematology to join our dynamic team who are committed to the delivery of the highest standards of care.
The Haematology Service is an integral part of the Trust's Medicine Division, providing care at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan.
Main duties of the jobWe are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join and support our Haematology Department at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary. The advertised position is full time with no on-call commitments.
The successful applicant will undertake independent ward rounds.
The successful candidate will be encouraged to get involved in QIP/Audits and Teaching programme.
Candidate will have same educational and clinical supervision as in place for trainees.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in Haematology and is looking to improve their knowledge, skills and considering a career in Haematology.
Full GMC registration with a licence to practice is essential for this role, holders of MRCP would be given preference, but it is not essential.
The role will require you to work across all areas of the Trust which includes those that are designated as positive, asymptomatic and negative COVID wards.

On-Call
Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.

Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesThere are currently no specific laboratory responsibilities though an interest in developing skills in this area will be encouraged. The bulk of the clinical workload will involve general and malignant haematology.
The appointment will be subject to the terms and conditions of service, Hospital Medical and Dental Staff in England and Wales.
Person specification Qualifications- MBChB or equivalent medical qualification
- GMC with full licence to practice
- Evidence of achievement foundation competencies by the time of appointment in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice

Able to carry out ALS and defibrillation to a standard that accords with UK Resus Council guidelines - Relevant specialty clinical knowledge: capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge relevant to the job.
