Overview

SEND Teaching Assistant – Full‑time supply starting ASAP. Work daily in secondary schools across Wigan and surrounding areas supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs.

Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND including autism, ADHD, SEMH, and speech and language needs.
  • Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to implement personalised learning plans.
  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and developing social and emotional skills.
  • Promote inclusion and positive behaviour in the classroom.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility where required.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to reviews and assessments.
  • Adapt quickly to different school environments and pupil needs.
Qualifications
  • Experience supporting secondary‑aged pupils with SEND in school or care settings.
  • Understanding of EHCPs and strategies for supporting diverse needs.
  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent (desirable).
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour and communication.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
