We are looking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and inspirational teacher to join our Mathematics department at Outwood Hindley. The department consists of a well‑established team of maths teachers all with a common aim of inspiring the next generation of mathematicians and making a real impact on the lives of young people. Mathematical pedagogy is at the heart of our practice.

Our single goal is "Students First", and you will be joining a strong team of professionals working towards this sole aim.

Outwood Academy Hindley is part of the Outwood Family of Schools. Continuing professional development of our staff is a priority, and there are opportunities to elevate your teaching through our renowned Outwood Institute of Education programmes and access to the very best national and international CPD opportunities. Our North West Director plays a key role in the North West 3 Maths Hub.

We invest heavily in your development so that you can invest in our students.

Outwood Academy Hindley is at the forefront of maths education, both in terms of ensuring students are taught maths for deep understanding and in enabling every student to leave school with a maths qualification that opens doors for them. We have an ambitious curriculum that facilitates this, combined with the training and support for teachers to feel confident to deliver this for all our students.

Responsibilities

The Teacher is expected to implement and use a wide range of teaching and learning strategies within the classroom, applying techniques like Assessment for Learning (AfL) to continually improve student performance. A core duty involves effectively using student‑level data to identify areas for development and raise standards. This professional must be aware of strategies available for improving the learning and achievement of all students, alongside possessing a good understanding of curriculum developments within their specific subject area.

The role requires maintaining high expectations for all students and effectively communicating with students and their parents, both orally and in writing. The teacher is expected to work collaboratively as part of a team, sharing good practice across the department, and demonstrating creativity in problem‑solving and a willingness to adopt new approaches.

Qualifications

Essential qualifications include a degree in an appropriate discipline related to the relevant subject and a teaching qualification coupled with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Required experience includes recent and relevant teaching experience (either in employment or training) and experience of assessment at Key Stage 3 and 4. The successful candidate will be confident in using standard computer packages (word processing, email and spreadsheets) and understand how these tools can enhance student learning.

The role demands high levels of professionalism, including the ability to relate to students pleasantly and sympathetically, and a capacity to recognise potential child safeguarding issues.

Closing date:
