Job Description

Attendance Officer at Outwood Academy Hindley starting September 2026. Salary: £23,914.61 - £25,859.03.
Working pattern: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time only plus 10 days.

Responsibilities
  • Drive whole‑school attendance strategies by providing operational and clerical support to reduce persistent absence.
  • Conduct the daily Late Gate patrol and maintain the academy’s registration and attendance Management Information System.
  • Operate the automated system for contacting parents regarding absence.
  • Engage directly with students and parents to discuss reasons for absence, offering appropriate support and challenge.
  • Prepare and present detailed attendance data for monitoring and reports.
  • Process referrals for Fixed Penalty Notices and publicise attendance information through various channels.
Qualifications
  • Effective verbal and written communication with diverse audiences.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in standard ICT packages, especially Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Resilience and ability to work effectively in difficult situations, including conflict management, while remaining professional.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with all stakeholders, including students and parents.
  • Experience in a school environment or attendance‑related role is desirable, as is familiarity with CMIS or SIMS software.
  • Mandatory satisfactory DBS check.
