Job Description
Attendance Officer at Outwood Academy Hindley starting September 2026. Salary: £23,914.61 - £25,859.03.
Working pattern: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time only plus 10 days.
- Drive whole‑school attendance strategies by providing operational and clerical support to reduce persistent absence.
- Conduct the daily Late Gate patrol and maintain the academy’s registration and attendance Management Information System.
- Operate the automated system for contacting parents regarding absence.
- Engage directly with students and parents to discuss reasons for absence, offering appropriate support and challenge.
- Prepare and present detailed attendance data for monitoring and reports.
- Process referrals for Fixed Penalty Notices and publicise attendance information through various channels.
- Effective verbal and written communication with diverse audiences.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Proficiency in standard ICT packages, especially Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Resilience and ability to work effectively in difficult situations, including conflict management, while remaining professional.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with all stakeholders, including students and parents.
- Experience in a school environment or attendance‑related role is desirable, as is familiarity with CMIS or SIMS software.
- Mandatory satisfactory DBS check.
