Are you a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity in Wigan? Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a full-time role within a supportive and inclusive specialist education setting, working with pupils who require additional support to thrive both academically and emotionally.
This provision supports Primary‑aged pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), communication challenges, and complex behavioural needs. The RoleAs an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key part in supporting students on a daily basis, helping to create a positive and calm learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide 1:1 support and small group interventions for students with SEN
- Assist in delivering tailored learning activities to meet individual needs
- Support students with EHCPs and personalised learning plans
- Use effective behaviour management strategies to support SEMH needs
- Build strong, positive relationships to engage and motivate learners
- Adapt resources and lesson content to ensure accessibility
- Support emotional regulation and promote wellbeing and resilience
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals
- Maintain a safe, supportive and inclusive classroom environment
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN (essential)
- Understanding of Autism, SEMH, and complex needs
- Patient, resilient and empathetic approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build trust and rapport with challenging or disengaged learners
- A proactive and flexible attitude to support a range of needs
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
