Prospero Teaching are seeking a dedicated Functional Skills Maths Tutor to support a learner through personalised 1:1 tuition in Wigan.
The role would suit a tutor who can make Maths practical and accessible, particularly when working with learners who may have gaps in their education or lack confidence in the subject.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver 1:1 Functional Skills Maths tuition
Identify gaps in numeracy and mathematical understanding
Plan sessions around individual targets
Make mathematical concepts practical and accessible
Develop learner confidence and independence
Adapt resources to suit ability and learning style
Track progress and provide appropriate feedback
Requirements
Strong Maths subject knowledge
Experience delivering Functional Skills or GCSE Maths
Previous experience working with young people
Ability to engage learners with varied educational needs
Patient, reliable and encouraging approach
Experience supporting SEND learners desirable
Relevant teaching qualification or tutoring experience desirable
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
Right to Work in the UK
Two professional child-related references
